Impacts of La Niña in Africa

Details

In this short video interview, scientists Brad Lyon and Paul Block from the International Research Institute (IRI) for Climate and Society explain the potential impacts of La Niña in different parts of Africa.

El Niño and La Niña can significantly alter seasonal climate conditions, such as temperature and rainfall patterns, in many parts of the world. These changes can lead to a wide range of impacts—both good and bad—on agricultural production, water availability, disease outbreaks, fisheries catches and more. Developing countries are especially vulnerable.
