El Niño and La Niña are naturally recurring climate disruptions that can cause significant changes in rainfall and temperature across the globe. These changes can lead to wildfires, droughts, widespread flooding, and even outbreaks of disease. Will global warming and climate change affect the frequency or intensity of El Niño and La Niña? Climate scientists aren’t sure, explains the International Research Institute for Climate and Society’s Lisa Goddard.
